Fibromyalgia in a busy city means managing pain and fatigue on top of commutes, work, and everything else. If you live or work in Atlanta, we offer a complementary evaluation and a gentle, paced plan from our Smyrna office, built to fit alongside the care you already have.
Dr. James Wright is a Doctor of Chiropractic and a diplomate in functional neurology through the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. Fibromyalgia is diagnosed by a physician, and Dr. Wright does not prescribe, so we encourage you to stay under your doctor's care.
Mayo Clinic describes fibromyalgia as widespread dull ache for at least three months with fatigue, sleep trouble, and "fibro fog," and notes nerves may change how the brain and spinal cord process pain (April 2025). Because of that nervous system involvement, we check balance, eye movement, and autonomic regulation as well as muscles and posture. The chronic pain overview explains the wider approach.
The first consultation is complimentary. We are private-pay and keep care one-on-one, and we explain pricing before any plan begins, so there are no surprises. If we see signs that need medical attention first, such as new weakness or unexplained weight loss, we suggest you see your physician before continuing.
NCCIH reports low-to-moderate quality evidence for acupuncture and massage lasting five weeks or longer in fibromyalgia pain, with unclear evidence for mindfulness and relaxation therapies (January 2023). Treatment responses vary, so we start light. Services include:
A complimentary first consultation about your pain, fatigue, sleep, and what you have tried
Review of your diagnosis and care team, since fibromyalgia is diagnosed by a physician
Neurological evaluation of balance, eye movements, autonomic regulation, and coordination
A gentle look at muscles, posture, and areas of sensitivity
Myofascial work, applied at a level you can tolerate
Graded exercises and movement that build slowly
Guidance on pacing, sleep, stress, and daily habits
Coordination with your rheumatologist or physician, with your permission
We look at when you feel best, what drains you, and how to plan the week around it. Some people do better with shorter, more frequent efforts than with one big push, and we help you test that for yourself without judging a rough day as a failure.
Light myofascial work, applied at a level you choose, may help some people feel less tense. We cannot predict who benefits, so we check in often.
Rush hour, parking, and long waits can be tiring. We suggest scheduling at your best time of day and keeping the visit focused.
Fibromyalgia often travels with other conditions, including POTS and headaches according to Mayo. See our pages on POTS care in Atlanta and sciatica care in Atlanta if those fit.
Our office sits in Smyrna, which the City of Smyrna places about ten miles northwest of downtown Atlanta and roughly 15 minutes away by interstate. With fibromyalgia fatigue, the route matters less than the timing: pick an appointment slot when you usually feel best, and skip the heaviest rush hours on I-75 and I-285 if you can. Midtown, Buckhead, and the Westside are all on the Atlanta side of that drive.

1. Reach out: Call or book. Tell us anything that makes visits hard, such as sensitivity to touch or fatigue, so we can plan around it.
2. Your story: Dr. Wright reviews your pain, sleep, energy, past testing, and medicines.
3. Evaluation: Neurological testing and a gentle physical exam, paced to how you feel.
4. Findings: We explain what we found and where our care may fit alongside your doctor's.
5. Gradual care: Hands-on work and exercises start light and build slowly, with your feedback guiding the pace.
6. Review: We adjust, pace, and review together, so progress does not come at the cost of flares.
We support function and comfort, and we explain what we see.
Tell us when you call. We can look for off-peak times and keep visits short.
Our evaluation includes neurological testing of balance, eye movement, and autonomic regulation, plus hands-on and exercise care. We can work alongside a physical therapist if you have one.
